We are looking for a creative and experienced communications professional excited to lead and coordinate strategic marketing that promotes student events, services, and programs.
The Content and Events Marketing Supervisors reports to the Publicity Center's Director of Communications and Strategic Initiatives.
They will supervise and train a student team, and work with other professional and student staff to craft compelling stories and deliver creative services that engage and involve CWU students in a wide variety of activities and opportunities.

The Role:
The Content and Events Marketing Supervisor leads and coordinates strategic marketing for department clients and partners that promotes student events, services, and programs, with emphasis on student fee-funded areas.
This position works with the Publicity Center creative team to create and implement marketing plans and campaigns for projects, which includes identifying materials and approaches needed, monitoring and evaluating results, and recommending adjustments.
This position coordinates, develops, edits, and delivers content over multiple platforms; works with the professional designer on seamless integration of visuals and content; trains and supervises student staff; develops and maintains a high level of public contact including media relations and coordination; and leads and assists with assessment to evaluate and improve program.
This position works closely with other professional and student staff to craft compelling stories and deliver creative services that engage and involve CWU students in a wide variety of activities and opportunities.
All employees are expected to support CWU's commitment to diversity and to bring and support inclusion into the university environmentJob DutiesMarketing and Content Development- Develop and implement marketing and communication plans to enhance student engagement with events, programs and services;- Work with staff to establish, coordinate and maintain project schedules, evaluate, and respond to emerging needs on projects;- Consult and guide clients on strategic marketing for events, determining the most appropriate methods and techniques for promoting events and programs; work with other Publicity Center creative staff to determine feasibility and execute tasks to meet marketing goals;- Establish and maintain relationships with on and off campus media professionals and organizations;- Independently advise media of upcoming events, activities, and student-focused news of interest through calendars, announcements, releases and features;- Develop and edit original written content for multiple platforms including publications, websites, social media and event promotions;- Manage department social media platforms; advise social media best practices to clients;- Work with other department staff to develop and deliver video and new media content;- Conduct and/or coordinate research and interviews;- Proofread and edit copy created in house or submitted by clients;- Oversee department social media content and guidelines;- Consult and advise departments on website updates; maintain Publicity Center / CWU Hype websites;- Advise departments on guidelines and alignment with university brand standards;- Oversee the Hype publication schedules; lead story development, writing and editing.
Assessment and Reporting - Evaluate, develop, and adjust or implement marketing processes and procedures to support department goals;- Track and assess effectiveness of marketing strategies and content delivery;- Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and new program initiatives;- Evaluate and adjust department policies and procedures;- Develop and administer assessment tools that support department goals;- Prepare support materials for Publicity Center quadrennial S&A budget proposal and supplemental budget requests; assist in presentations;- Prepare and present Publicity Center services/trainings to clients.
Supervisor Duties- Supervise student marketing staff and interns;- Advise design team on content integration with design collateral;- Actively engage in recruitment and hiring new employees;- Clearly define performance expectations, ensure accountability, and provide ongoing informal feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
Conduct formal performance evaluations;- Ensure employees have necessary resources;- Oversee and direct the work of staff; serve as mentor, coach and leader, and resolve complaints or issues;- Promote professional development opportunities; Develop and foster supportive working relationships, motivation and engagement;- Communicate information to staff on an ongoing basis to influence staff engagement and to be a part of a larger community;- Take corrective action in a timely manner;- Recognize and reward employees for good performance;- Schedule employee work hours/shifts; monitor hours worked; approve payable time and absence requests;- Adjust leadership style as needed to achieve results;- Recognize value of and promote a diverse workforce.

- Perform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English or related field and two years' experience which includes news and feature writing, print and social media marketing, media relations, and website content creation; or equivalent education/experience Experience with web, social media and project management tools Experience leading or mentoring staff Experience researching, developing, and implementing event marketing or communication plans Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences.
